The Admissions Interview

For most students the interview is the single-most frightening part of the whole application process.  But it doesn’t have to be scary!  As with most things in life, diligent preparation is the key to improving performance, reducing anxiety, and building confidence.  In the words of a famous golfer, “The more I practice, the luckier I get.”

We’ll coach your child by carefully reviewing the most common questions asked by interviewers, and we'll give tips on the best way to handle those unexpected, “off the wall” questions.  Most importantly, we’ll conduct mock interviews and teach the student how to avoid the blunders that are often made by applicants who are unprepared and inexperienced.

Some tips for interviews

  • Don’t be overly concerned about appearing nervous.  Interviewers will expect you to be nervous and won’t penalize you for it.
  • If possible, focus your answers more on academics than on extracurricular activities.  Both are important, but academics are weighted more heavily in the admissions decision.
  • Make eye contact.
  • Be sure to follow-up with a thank-you note.
  • Always be honest in your answers.
